how it works

The cutting nozzle movement is computer controlled, much like a cnc milling operation. The material to be cut is placed on a table under the nozzle and the computer drives the nozzle to cut the desired shape within the table size limits.

WATERJET ADVANTAGES

No mechanical stress

Because waterjet cuts are made by a stress free erosion process rather than punching, burning, sawing, or contact tooling, materials do not gain mechanical stress. Brittle substances, dissimilar materials and compressible materials can be fabricated with waterjet when no other method will work.

No Heat Affected Area

The water stream is inherently self cooling. Temperatures in the cutting process barely rise above ambient temperatures.

Optimal use of materials

The waterjet streams ranges from .040” to .050” in diameter, which means that only small amounts of material are removed. This narrow kerf and the use of computer nested CA/Cam process allow exceptional use of expensive materials.

High quality edges and intricate cuts

Waterjet edges are clean and smooth with a sandblasted appearance. Waterjet edges are superior to almost all other types of cutting. Because of the narrow kerf and the computer accuracy, complex and intricate cuts can be easily accomplished.
